Synod in Moravian Church in Rukwa, Tanzania

From 13th to 15th September 2017, a synod was held in Sumbawanga, where a new church administration for the Rukwa Province in Tanzania, which has its headquarters in Sumbawanga, was elected. The delegates chose Erup Rupia Simae as new chairman. Simae is coming from a position as project manager in the province and has previously been chairman of the Brødrekirken in Rukwa province (about 10 years ago). Asagile Mwandagasya was chosen as his deputy. And Emmanuel Adam Sikazwe was elected as General Secretary of the Moravian Church in Rukwa Province.

Moravian Church in Denmark, BDM, has been engaged in various work in Sumbawanga for many years. The orphanage Peter's House is located here and is built with the help of sponsors in Denmark, which also supports the daily operation economically under the leadership of BDM. Peter's House is a project for children who lives at the street in Sumbawanga.
BDM also sends volunteers to the project. In addition, other projects are supported in Sumbawanga, as is the mission station in Kipili on Lake Tanganyika, located in Rukwa Province. This means that BDM's missionary missionary Knud Elmo Knudsen also puts some of his energy in the projects in Sumbawanga.
